The nice holiday village Barbiano (Barbian), close to Bressanone, lies at a height of 836 m above sea level and is situated on a very sunny hillside. It is surrounded by meadows and vineyards. The leaning spire of the parish church is the landmark of this little village.
A forest path leads you up to the hamlet Bagni Tre Chiese (Three Churches Bath), here, as the name already says, three churches form a picturesque ensemble. In pre-historic times the place used to be a well shrine due to its slightly radioactive wells. The hamlet Saubach to the south of Barbiano has a little Gothic church with three wing altars from around 1500.
Many walking paths and hiking trails take you to the surroundings of Barbiano.
It is worth walking to the waterfalls of Barbiano, they are especially impressive during the snow melt period or after heavy rainfall. The upper waterfall is at a height of 1.200 m and falls down over 45 m. The lower waterfall offers better access and is much more famous. The salutary climate at the waterfall is especially good for people suffering from allergies. The oxygen set free from the water stimulates the immune system and has positive effects on the respiratory system and the whole organism.
