Holidays in Malles in Val Venosta
MallesMalles (Mals) lies at 1.050 m above sea level and is the main village of the upper Val Venosta valley. Especially from the "Malser Haide", the typical meadow plateau of the valley, you have a magnificent view onto the famous Ortles Group. Whereas from the legendary Tartscher Bichl hill you have a wonderful view over Malles and its surroundings. The Romanesque church St. Veit stands on this hill. Five impressive spires tower above the village, three Romanesque spires and a Gothic church spire, moreover the round keep of the castle Fröhlich. On the upper market place to the west of the village, you find the St. Benedict church with Carolingian frescos which together with the Procolus frescos of Naturno belong to the oldest frescos in the whole German speaking area. The fresco cycles can be visited. The ski and hiking area Watles is closeby. Paths take you to the surroundings, crossing meadows and forests. The sport centre of Malles has an indoor swimming pool, a solarium, a sauna, a bowling run, tennis courts and a football pitch. |
