City of Bolzano (Bozen)Bolzano (Bozen) lies at 262 m above sea level and is the provincial capital of South Tyrol. It has the Free University of Bolzano and around 100.000 inhabitants. Further sights of Bolzano are the Dominican church with the San Giovanni chapel, the Capuchin church, the Franciscan church, above the fruit market and the mercantile building. The beautiful Walther square in the city centre was named after the poet Walther von der Vogelweide. The Talvera fields along the river Talvera are ideal to take a quiet walk. A well accessible cablecar takes you to Soprabolzano above Bolzano. You can reach the mountain Colle with the world-oldest cable car. During the Advent and Christmas period, the Christmas market of Bolzano has a special flair, enabling you to enjoy the atmosphere before Christmas. |
