Holidays in Certosa in Val Senales
Certosa in the Val Senales valleyCertosa (Karthaus) lies at 1.327 m above sea level and is a small village surrounded by meadows and woods in the beautiful Val Senales valley. The village goes back to the Carthusian convent Certosa degli Angeli (of the angels). During the peasant wars the convent was raided and the peasants moved into the convent cubicles and turned them into houses. The cloister of the old convent is very enchanting, in the summer it becomes the home to exhibitions of local artists. The Val di Fosse valley begins shortly before Certosa. The back of the valley is rich in game and is a part of the nature park Gruppo del Tessa. The nature park offers many hiking possibilities, for example the Alta Via high panoramic path of Merano also passes here. The mountain Monte S. Caterina is a starting point for excursions to old mountain farms that are characteristic for the Val Senales valley. Right at the end of the valley a glacier cable car brings skiers up to a modern all-year-round ski resort with wonderful slopes and modern lifts for skiers and snowboarders that offer an enchanting view. |
