Valle Aurina - Tures
Holidays in Predoi in Valle Aurina valley
PredoiThe holiday village Predoi (Prettau) lies at a height of 1.475 m above sea level and is situated at the end of the Valli di Tures e Aurina valleys. Already in early times it was an important village for passing the Alpine divide. The old smuggling paths are now popular steep tracks that take you through the breath taking mountain world. The beginnings of the copper mining in the mine of Predoi go back to the early ages. The Prettau Mine Museum in Predoi brings visitors one kilometre down into the mountain with a mine railway. Here a exhibition shaft gives you an insight into the hard work of the miners. The smaller mining museum “Zum Falken“ and an informative nature trail give additional information on the mining history of the valley. The closed down mining shaft has a very special climate that is extremely good for people with breathing problems. The mining railway takes visitors in to the Climate Shafts Prettau (Klimastollen Prettau), a wonderful place for everyone looking for peace and relaxation. The miner’s and pilgrimage church Holy Ghost is worthwhile a visit. An interesting church path takes you there from Casere. The Stations of the Cross of the path were made by young people under the instruction of the Valle Aurina Woodcarving School. After the mining was stopped, the families earned their living by lace-making. The “lace-making women“ of the valley are very famous and Predoi also offers an interesting lace-making exhibition with a sales exhibition. |
